Those old Anoles

Pseudosilence Jun 26, 2005 01:39 AM

About 6yrs ago I bought several species from seaside reptiles.

Anolis chlorocephalus
krugi
porcatus
winstoni
trinitatis
allisoni
They were expensive (about 50-200$) and it took me two yrs. to collect them all.

About 4 yrs ago my interests turned to dendrobatids, hyporolius and other small, bright, loud frogs. So I gave away all but the Haiti greens and Allisons Anoles, I still have them. Now my interests are coming back to anoles but cant find them. Are they legal to import still or are they completly protected. Are there any captive bred anoles out there, Its not like they were hard to breed. Mine bred like guppies (and my tanks were Petco-style at the time), I ended up keeping the males segregated, untill friends asked for a favor. Any info whatsoever will be appreciated.

Anolis chlorocyanus is reported to be established near Ft Myers, Florida along with A. extremus.

Most of the Caribbean Anole species have been barred from importation. You might try Glades Herp for some of them. Anolis porcatus has become established in Dade County, Florida in the Coral Gables area are are easily collected there.
