GHOSTS???

sjs Jun 26, 2005 02:16 AM

ive seen some gorgeous orange, yellows, and green ghosts but ive got a female that ive had for two years now and she looks as normal as a normal can be and just last week i noticed for the first time that her shed is absolutely pattern free.........does this make her a ghost and if so what advantage is it as ive stated she is as normal as you get......shes pretty but shes normal ...well she was until last week anyway and to me still is other then the clear shed......my question is where should i aim her in a breeding program to make the most of that fact or will it ever bring out anything extra when added to say pastel, mojave, spider,or albino as they are the only male morphs ill have for next season when she will hopefully breed for her first time........thanks for any feedback....SJS

I hear that there are times that normal snakes actually shed clear...I've also heard that het hypos sometimes shed clear...I think it may just be a fluke but maybe you should hook her up to a hypo or something and see if anything comes out....

A clear shed combined with the hypomelanism is what makes a ghost. It's just the clear shed. I would definitely breed her out and see what's going on. You might be surprised to find she's het for something crazy... good luck.

I've had normals shed clear. If it doesn't happen every time they shed, they are not a hypo. If she keeps shedding clear then you might think about putting her in a hypo breeding project, otherwise it was just a fluke.
