yes it appears to be a northern water, perhaps even a midland, but does not have the bright colors of a midland. IT is not a copper head, copperheads look nothing like that really if you compare. perhaps the color is similal, but one of the simple ways to remember it is copper heads, have the bands in a certain order, wide on the side, narrow int he middle, and wide on the other side, makign it look like an hour glass if you look at it fromthe sides and above. The head structure is totally different. go here and there is one in the pics. http://[bleep]//view.php?site=fieldherpers&bn=fieldherpers_fieldherping&key=1117481267

I think SecretSReptiles is trolling anyway. It is obviously not a copperhead, and if he didn't know what it was, why post in the watersnake forum?

justin stricklin Jun 27, 2005 01:38 PM

Maybe right, but others that visit the forum but don't post may leanr something?

That leave me I guess, I certainly do not know everything, like how can you mistake a water snake for a copperhead? or worse yet a dekays brown snake, another common mistake. I try imagine the kind of person who would make that mistake, and I am dumb founded, because the person I picture would be unable use a computer, not being bright enough to type or too blind to see the screen. I don't mean to insult well intention people looking for information, I just don't find it believable.
