When do panthers fully develop their colors?

chamcham505 Jun 26, 2005 03:48 PM

Hi,
My 9 month Ambanja-Nosy be cross (cobalt) is coming along great. What I was wondering is when do their colors reach....maturity? Can they develop after a year old, or do they stay put? He's starting to show purple bars, but I was just curious. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I've had some different experiences with my panthers with their full adult color development. My Tamatave didn't develop his colors until after 10 months of age, and with each shed he got more and more red. His colors are the same now (he's 2 1/2 years old) as he was about 1 year old. My Nosey Be developed his colors really early...about 6 months of age and has been the same since (he's 2 1/2 also). Both, will of course, become extremely bright and their colors very rich in the presence of a female...this is when their true color abilities come out.

Thanks for the info, I guess my guy still has a little time to develop his color! You have gorgous chameleons, especially the tamative (what unusual coloration)
