TIMOR MONITORS!

TBH Jun 26, 2005 05:48 PM

ok, so i have a beautyful male timor, he's really cool (i don't know what all of you who say they always hide are talking about, if you don't disturb them they are very fun to watch). which leadd me to my first question, i currently have him in a 4X2X2 cage, is this big enough to house a female? i think he's at the right age/size for breeding. are they any more entertaining to watch when there is a pair or a trio? do they interact? (sorry about all the questions, but i'm a college student who needs to save his money, so before i invest i wanna be sure (though i'm already pretty sure i have buyers for the babies so maybe it would help). anyways, sorry i keep gettin off topic, my second question is slightly more complicated. i have been thinking about how cool it might be to silicone a piece of glass and making more of a pool for him instead of just a water dish. maybe also add a filter to it or something and put some fish/water plants in it? i think it would be really cool but i would like to hear what you guys have to say about it. lastly, if any of you guys are vets or maybe even some of you breeders; i'm a pre-vet (animal bio) major at uc davis, so if you have any open positions or internships in california please help me out (i know this is kind of a weird informal way of asking for one, but i figure it can't hurt to try). sorry about the long post...
thanks

Hey! Just speaking from my experience, that cage size is probably too small, especially for 2 full grown Timors. I have my pair in a home built cage 6' high x 3' wide x 2' deep, and I was lucky enough to have them produce viable eggs this last season, so at least my cage wasn't too small to cause stress enough to preclude mating. As far as the second question, can't really answer sorry. Good luck, gotta love those personality packed Timors, I love mine!
