You could, but why would you? What would you do with the offspring? I know people who have done this (getula x splendida, splendida x californiae, californiae x holbrooki). In all three cases, the people couldn't even give the offspring away!

I am surprised with your advice. Usually the advice you give has some good research on. In this case I think your opersonal pinion of hybrids has clouded your advice.

I have been breeding pure spp for a number of years and just in the last 5 years I started producing a few hybrids. Every year the hybrids seLl out quicker than the pure spp , morphs or locality specific animals. Say what you want about hybrids but one thing is for certain THEY SELL.

Here's some of my mutt kings, and please excuse the bad pics.

It also depends on what kind of kings you cross. I took this pic off an ad I saw on the classifieds (its not one of mine) its a calif king crossed with a Apalachicola king. Of course when you get into crossing kings into milksnakes that really opens the door to some beautys.

Calif King X Aplalachicola king:

the fact remains, we couldn't get rid of them.

I actually did end up giving away a couple (rather reluctantly) to some young herpers. Several others became coral snake food!

I have no personal bias against hybrids. Once you take a snake out of the wild, it is irrelevant to me what you do with it.
I have loved snakes for almost 40 years, so there are a lot of snakes I would still like to work with before I start looking at hybrids.

Intergrade/hybridize away! Just be honest about what you are selling and I have no beef whatsoever.

I don't prefer hybrids and I won't buy them but I do have 2 Hypo Boa constrictors in my collection, so for me to be absolutely against crossing species and ssp would make me a HYPOcrite. They are kind of neat to look at and to argue that it's bad for the hobby and what not is kind of silly. There will always be people breeding species specific animals....whatever that means....lol. In nature they cross themselves why not people with CB snakes? I know no one is arguing but there really shouldn't be one in my opinion anyway.....for what that's worth.

Happy Herping!!

They are a locality cross between hypo central american boas to Colombian boas, which are both Boa constrictor imperator.

Not sure what I was thinking. Or maybe I wasn't....
