LIGHTING FOR TANK!!

jag Jul 14, 2003 05:58 PM

I was wondering what the best heat light is for a 10 gal or 20 gal tank. When I went to turn on one of my red lights for my 10 gal tank It had died. I thought that they were supposed to have long life, hmm not this one for some reason. But yet I went to the pet store and and they dont have the one i usually buy (Exo terra Heat glo ifarared heat lamp). They only have ESU Reptile Red Heat Basking Lamp. Is that ok to use or not? I only need one light for a 10 gal. I swapped a few lights around and now have a 75 watt in my 20 gal tank. And a 50 watt in a 10 gal and another 50 watt in they other 10 gal but its a blue light and isnt conducting the right amount of heat. SO what do you guys suggest?

I use in my 65 gallon as a supplement a red "party bulb". They are just like a 25 or 30 watt red glass bulb you can get them for like $2.49 cents at grocery stores or home supply. I makes plenty fo heat at 14 inches above the floor in my tank. I use it with a small UTH but the bulb would do by itself in a smaller tank
