Crested Geckos in a screen cage?

Andrew- Jun 26, 2005 11:50 PM

My chameleon passed away recently, and so now ive got a large empty screen cage. I dont really want to get another chameleon right now, so im looking into getting something else. Could crested geckos go in a cage like this? Its one of the fresh air habitat type cages.

Thanks,
Andrew

Yes
they will go in there fine.
but the problem is keeping the humidity at a constant 60%-80%

it is tough with an all screen. but it can be done if its planted fairly well

i dont think the humidity needs to be a constant 60-70%. its not that way in the wild, and i have heard from many keepers/breeders that let the hummidity vary during the day. i mist at night and sometimes in the morning if its a really dry period. and then let it dry out over the day. by doing this i keep the animals hydrated as well as preventing mold from getting established.
Overall, i think that cage is a good idea. let us know what u think about it.

Yes Cresteds can go in screen cages and the humidity only needs to be in the 70-80 for like 6 hours or so during the day my humidity drops to like 40-50 you want the cage to dry out for at least half of the day to prevent mold.

Thanks for the help everyone. I think that the best way to keep the humidity up would be to get a humidifier in there, so ill look into that.

Thanks,
Andrew
