PVC Pipe as fake log

fat_bastard Jun 27, 2005 05:00 PM

What are the disadvantages of doing something like this? I would coat it with something, but what? Anyone here done this? I'm looking for something for my Water Dragon enclosure. She's getting too big for the flexible vines anymore. Any other ideas would be appreciated as well. Thanks!!!

what I did for the climbing structures in my cages was to take a piece of pvc and burn it with a propane torch. Note: do this outside with PLENTY of ventilation, the fumes from burning pvc are highly toxic.

Anyway, you take a cheapo propane torch from home depot and you'll get an inner and outer flame. you touch the very tip of the inner flame to the pvc and it will burn to a dark brown. depending on the size and the amount of time you can also bend these.

here's the pictures of my cages.. on the top right one i have 2" pvc, on the other three i have 1" thinwall pvc. if you are going to bend and twist, go with the thinwall.

when you're done burning, then just take a scotchbrite pad and some dawn soap or something similar to wash off the pipe.
