Strange Pastel Morph

crystalpalace Jun 27, 2005 05:35 PM

last year we bred a wild type Axanthic male to a greenish colour normal female ball. She laid 6 eggs - all het Axanthics we expected - 3 turned out normal the other 3 turned out like this. Totally unexpected.

Here is a belly shot.

This seaon the same pair have produced 7 eggs. We have just split the eggs and taken a peek - none of them resemble the snakes from the year before.

Don't fret Darren. There has got to be a male in the three from last year surely. End of this year, stick him with his mum and then name your own line!! Eric

quick question has the female ever been with another male in the past? like a pastel? she might have retained sperm but if he was the only male ever bred with her thats odd. they sure look like pastels.

No she has never been with a pastel - lat year was the first time she had been mated and then only with the Axanthic.

I was thinking the same thing...but if it were spontaneous mutation wouldn't there only be one in the clutch that was mutated?....or we probably just don't know enough about spontaneous mutation to really know how many would be....

Cou8ld the wc Axanthic actually be a wc Axanthic pastel, hence explaining the 1:1 ratio of pastels to normals.
