A picture of Blood Boa Litter we had the other day.....

Amanda_Burke Jun 27, 2005 05:58 PM

These guys were a very pleasant surprise!!! We had Derek Yagi's male Blood Boa on a breeding loan this year to breed with our female het for Blood. We didn't witness any copulation or even courting during breeding season, though and if you know my dad, you know he practically gets in the cage with our boas to see what's going on during breeding season. Then towards the end of the season, we threw our male het for Blood in with her just to see what would happen, but again we didn't witness him doing anything either. We thought for sure we had missed the window of opportunity for this female and that she'd have slugs this year, but lo and behold, my dad came home from work to this beautiful sight the other day! Not sure who the father is...the numbers would suggest het to het, but even though he's normally a great breeder, he really wasn't in there that long and we didn't witness any action from either male, so who knows? The male Blood could have just been really stealthy about doing his thing before he began ignoring her completely! lol So, to make a long story short, we're just going to call these poss hets and we are feeling *extremely* lucky to have Bloods again this year! lol

Thanks for looking!
