Hypo Greeri...

jeph Jun 27, 2005 06:30 PM

Hi,
I recently got this hypo male and a het-hypo female from a friend of mine in NYC-(Eric Kikel, who has some really outstanding Greeri) in a trade we did. Both this hypo male and the het-hypo female were produced by Applegate in '01-(same hypo father but different mothers). I have wanted these for awhile now,the color is so nice on them.He actually has red eyes, very pretty snake.Well enjoy the pic,

That is a fabulous looking snake and I can't wait to see its offspring out in the "system."

Incredible Hypo Greeri! Just amazing!

Are there any hypo mex mex's out there also?

Very nice,
Uncloudy

I wish there was some hypo Mexmex, but I think there is no such animal in captivity yet. I say yet because I am sure someone will breed the hypo gene into Mexmex, thayeri and the such and outcross the doner species.
There are even some amelanistic thayeri out there that a definitely hybrids, but look SO much like the real thing it is scary. I think there were some 100% pure amel thayeri produced many years ago, but the project never got off the ground. I think Aaron Mattson knows more about the albino thayeri details.
I have seen many of Bob Applegates' pictures and this one here that Eric sold to Jeph has got to be one of the best I have seen. Eric actually asked if I wanted them, but my funds were spent....LOL
Great looking snake Jeph!!!
Here is a pic of my dark female Greeri from Eric. It is the younger sibling (same parents different year)to the only striped Greeri in the world. The striped gene has never been proven genetic.
The male below was actually sold to me by an ex employee of the Houston Zoo. The founding species of Durango Mt. Kings were collected by Louis Porras. The breeder/ex-employee of the Zoo sold this male to me as a 100% pure greeri that is the result of 20 or so years of line breeding. I call him a possible Greeri cross now since I have done much research on these and still am not sure it is a pure Greeri. It would look nearly like Jeph's if he had the grey instead of black and the red eyes instead of black....Anyway great snake Jeph...I hope you get them to breed for you next year....I would love to get some from you if you do.

I've seen pics of that greeri in the bottom pic of your post before. It is a screamer whatever it is. I bet quite a few people would think its not a pure greeri, but to each their own right. Nice pic and snake though. That thing could almost be at the end of the hypo spectrum,I've talked about this a bunch of times before with other breeders. That the hypo gene probably has a lower and higher end of brightness and has to be somewhere along the line of being an albino. Look at alot of hypo hondos, you will find alot of variance in color of dark bands, and you will see some hypo hondos with red eyes and some with black eyes. You never know. But I think that is what an Extreme hypo hondo is,its the best a hypo can get with out being an albino I think. At the highest end of the hypo gene spectrum. Or maybe not too..?,peace,

I know of was an anerythristic. I dunno if they are still around-(they gotta be somewhere). I think Shannon Brown had them. I'm not aware of anything else-(besides hybrid albinos, that were created with the albino Ruthveni). But there is things out there that people dont know of I bet,in captive collections, you never know.
