Anybody have trouble with your burms..............................

killin' and not eatin' their food? Mine usually takes a large rat every 4-5 days. Dropped one in the other night and she snatched it up quick. Killed it and left it lay. Now that she's getting larger, might her metabolism be slowin' down? Curious in Michigan

I would increase the amount of time in between feedings; you are feeding too often which could lead to long term health problems. Instead, I would cut back to 2-3 rats every 14 rats; although you are feeding basically the same amount, it gives the snake more time in between feedings to fully digest its meals. Depending on the size of your burm, you might consider switching to rabbits; one rabbit once or twice a month will usually keep a captive burm in top condition.

Rob, thanks for the comeback. I need to switch to rabbits, she/he's about 7 feet now. Up to now she had always taken a rat of appropriate size every 4-5 days like clock work.
I pretty much decided to just let her go till I see her searchin' for lunch on her own, then I can be sure she's ready. I still feed live also, but when I start on rabbits I'll switch over. She's not picky, I've just always let her kill her own lunch. Thanks again.
