ah, such fun at the store

jeune18 Jun 28, 2005 12:46 AM

so today i was supposed to pick my friend up from the airport, i was almost there when i got a call telling me she was just now leaving vegas so she would be there in like an hour. so i went to this pet store near the airport that i love.
well they had uros out the wazoo and they actually had an egyptian there! i have never seen a live one before. he was a little larger than a mali and i just had to hold him. we take him out of the cage and he begins swinging back and forth. i got lucky, the pet store clerk did not except that his tail was getting ready to peel and was not as sharp. i held him in one hand and the tail in the other. he was really good till the very end when he got spooked again and the tail got loose from my hand. this time i wasn't so lucky. despite the whapping and the pain in my wrist, i never dropped him and now i have some cuts to remember him by if i only had the space, the three hundred dollars and the money for the cage, he would have come home with me. they also had some false tails there too that i got to hold
ok i am done rambling, i just had to share

how big was the egyptian you held? I'm getting a 7 month old from Doug Dix.

I'm going to have him weigh and measure him before he sends him to me that way I can keep track of his growth.

But it sounds pretty cool. Getting to hold one and all. Also, if you ice down your wrist it'll feel tons better. My mali's whapped me a couple times before.

The other uro's I had, the female punctured my hand, she tail whapped me pretty good and got me bleeding real good. So I had to put bandages on my hand.

But otherwise keep it clean if it punctured the skin.

i would say he was about 15 inches, still a growing boy and like i said his tail was dull so i only got a few scratches which hurt and itched really bad at the time. i was lucky, even though i got hit. while at the store i put that anti bacterial stuff on my arm, just in case but they really were superficial wounds

he was alot of fun and yes i want lots of lizards to fill my house, still not sure if i am going to have a hubby in there with it all, ha ha but i might manage to fit one into my life
ah yes, shield tails. are they also called false uro? i thought the word false was in there somewhere. they were so tiny and very stiff. she was hanging onto my hand for dear life. they were $90, which is weird, for some reason i thought they would be more than that. their heads remind me more of a beardie than a uro though!
they also have a $20000 tortoise that i want, hee hee maybe i can find a reptile buying sugar daddy, LOL

I know I do.

Ah, the voice of reason! Otherwise, I'm happy to work for myself. Why else am I subjecting myself to this college thing?

** Why else am I subjecting myself to this college thing?

The same reason I am, only for the utter torcher of it all.

I mean seriously, with everything you have to go through to sign up for classes and such, it just makes college a huge pain in the butt.

Just a little tip for everyone going to college, or entering college:

Sometimes local colleges, like Illinois Central College, are harder then 4 year universities, like Western Illinois University.

Just keep that in mind.

All I really want to do is finish off my schooling, pay my own way through PTI (police training institute) and then go join a Police Department somewhere and get it over with.

No, I'm changing careers.

My college is real easy to sign up at. Phone number, credit card, done.

Indeed. Better value (cheaper) and I'll be more prepared for when I hit upper division classes at UCI It may not seem like a beneficial situation to be in unless you're moving into something that wraps around the lower division stuff like math, sciences, engineering, etc. where a harsher base insures stronger competency at higher levels.

The college I currently attend has found a way to mess up everything.

This past semester, I took my first online course, English 111.

Within the first week of starting, the teacher called me up. NOTE: nothing had been turned in yet.

She told me to get out of her class and if I didn't, then she knew for a fact that I wouldn't do good.

1: How would she know that I wouldn't do good in her class if she hadn't read any of my papers or graded anything of mine?
2: I have never had this teacher before, neither have any of my siblings.

I called the head of the department, and she said that what my teacher told me on the phone, and how she had been treating me all through the semester were ok.

Hello: Is there no such thing as decency anymore? Or has that gone out the window also?

I'm seriously real close to filing a lawsuit against my college for everything that's happened in the past year.

So now I might change majors and just go to a different college all together.

I'm a current grad student in the math department at UCI. Looks like quite a collection of uros you have there. What are you studying?

Vonnie, i think you meant UCSC (Santa Cruz) are the Banana Slugs. UCSB (Santa Barbara) are the Gauchos. But I agree, the Uros would be much better. In either case, I think ppl would still say "what the hell is that?" LOL
