Vision heat?

reptileszz Jun 28, 2005 06:30 AM

Hi there, I recently obtained 2 visions that are 36x28x18. They have the indents for the heat lamps. So far I have tried a 40 watt CHE and a 60 watt normal bulb but both heated up far too much. What is everyone using to heat these? I should mention that these are in my "hot room" where the background temp is in the low 80s by day and the mid 70s by night. The only one I need to heat is for my ball pythons (not an issue now as it is mad hot in there this week) but I need to plan for the fall when the temps drop down to the above mentioned ones.

25 watt che? 40 watt light bulb?

Thanks!
Carole

PS an undertank heating pad is an option I suppose. Anyone using them?

undertank heating and or a thermostat would really improve your heating situation.

Boids really like bottom heat. Overhead lamps are great for lizards. Boids would prefer a darker environment. Lights over the top of your boid are great for you to see the snake, but not as good for the animal.

I have a lot of Visions in use and heat them with the Exoterra Heatwave Pads which work very well with Visions-Place the pad under the center rear section in between the ribs. I attach the pad with aluminum foil tape and leave the adhesive backing intact. A rheostat or thermostst is a must. Bill.

Thanks guys. I have an "older style" fiberglass heat pad that I think I will use. It is about 9 inches wide by 18 inches long. I have a helix to use with it.

Thanks again!

Carole

PS I didnt really want to use the light anyway as it was also throwing heat up to the corns.

Hmmm why the center? I thre mine one one side but my pad is 11x17. What are the advantages to the back center position?
