porkchop48 Jun 28, 2005 10:32 AM

Im planning on setting up a red eyed tree frogs tank. The enclosure i have is about 5 ft wide 1 1/2 ft deep and 6 ft tall. How many would i be able to put in there and is there any things else like tiger legged tree frogs that can go with them. Also I would like to set up a ten gallon for a pac man frog does any one have any suggestions on what should go in it. I also just purchased two bullfrogs tadpole and any advivce on them would be greatly appreciated
Thnak you in advance

I don't know about the first two, but can help a little with the bullfrog. If they have their hid or all their legs set up a half-and-half tank. I currently keep my single bullfrog tadpole in a half-style tank. A ten gallof should work out fine, but you may want to confirm this with other sights and/or posts. I feed mine boiled lettuce and it seems to work out fine. i also bought a water filter sold as to be used in goldfish bowls for about 18 bucks, and it keeps the tank very clean and prevents cloudiness in the water. thas all i have for now. ask around for more help.

Hi,
regarding the bullfrog tadpoles, you will need an extremely large tank when they are adults. Sometimes even a 75 gallon can be too small for one. So you would need something like a 180 gallon tank for both of them.

Hope this helps.

yeesh, thats a little overkill, ive been told multiple times that as little as 10 gallons should sufice for a bullfrog, but i would go with a 20 gallon long tank for one, 40 for two. but 180 gallons is a bit of an overkill of you ask me.

Here is a quote from another website.

When full grown, bullfrogs will need at least a 100 gallon tank. Most would say more than that. I would say a 150 gallon or more would be best. Bullfrogs are huge and very active swimmers. To keep one comfortable and happy, you need a huge setup.

Here is another quote.

A fully grown female bullfrog would need a 75 gallon or more tank.

thats all good and well, im not critisizing your source/choice. im just meerly expressing my veiw that a 100 gallon tank seems a little overkill for one frog, but im not and expert in this matter.

Yeah i know, i didn't take it that you were criticising. I understand that you were stating your point of view, everyone has different opinions. After all that's what forums are for .
I'm not an expert either, that is just some quotes from a different forum.

what about an outdoor pond? My dad makes a lot o fmy tanks for me so getting a large one wont be a problem but i was just curious about the pond. Next year my plans are to put in a pond. But i dont want anything to happen to them if they go in the pond. So even if there is a chance they may get hurt they will be staying inside. Right now they are in a 10 gallon on my front porch with the rest of the frogs and the lizards to get get some real sunlight is that ok?

pond sounds great, i heard of using a net to cover pond to keep out predators/yard waste. as to outside, make sure the tadpoles have plenty of shade, they dont like being in direct sunlight. i kep mine indoors.
