when it comes to shell and scale color in baby box turtles-how much does genetics play in color development?

That's a really good question: I would say that genetics would certainly play a role, but whether that would translate into anyone being able to predict whether or not offspring from a certain pair would mature to resemble either parent is a different matter entirely.
