Weird and unexpected.. this litter of Nicaragua boas has.....

RioBravoReptiles Jun 28, 2005 03:30 PM

... hypos, anerys, normals and ghosts (anery+hypo).. Neither of the parents are anerythristic. They are F1s, one is hypo the other is normal and apparently they are both het-anery... What the heck? who can give me the odds on this stuff?

A het X het breeding would have given you 25% Anery, with the hypo you should have 1/8 ghost, 1/8 anery. You got pretty lucky on that one, considering Gus Rentfro breeds locales not morphs!

Well CONGRATS! First U.S. Captive bred and born Ghost Nicaraguans, and probably the most diverse Nicaraguan litter to date.

I'd call it luck! One of the hypos is fabulously beautiful, I would much rather have a couple more of those. As for odds there is only one 'normal' in the group!.. whatever normal means in a litter like this.. And I wouldn't be surprised if the Burkes are having ghost Nicaragua boas too, they have (I think) some of the same line of hypos as I do.

.. pretty weird stuff..

Amanda told me that their Ghost (import) was bred to a normal. They did breed a Hypo to a Type II Anery, so they may end up with Ghosts, if their Hypo is also a het.

Well from a het to het, any non homozygous animals are possible hets, 2/3 or the non-homozygous should be hets. This is just probability from punnet squares, by no means the actual results.

Well, I would call it luck, but I like Anerys! So since you obviously don't like the results, I would be happy to take them off your hands, LOL!

Take care,
Chris

at Daytona. Sell them cheap though. Maybe $10,000, just to get rid of them.

Seems like everything else came out of that litter.
Congrats Gus!

Even when breeding two normals, you never know what you are going to get...I've heard of some amazing tales...Of course, my luck never runs that good...
Congrats on the HypoXNormal surprises!!
