Hi, I have long had an interest in keeping tortoises and wonder if there are any clubs or get-togethers of tortoise keepers in SE Florida. I couldn't find any listed on the websites that list clubs elsewhere in the state. I am a professional biologist (Ph. D. botanist) and kept box turtles for 10 years when I was a teenager in the Northeast US. So, I have some scientific background and some chelonian-care knowledge, but understand that there are special issues with various species of tortoises and with the climate here. I'm sure there is a lot of wisdom to be learned from experience -- or maybe better learned from those who ARE experienced. I would also be interested in meeting individual keepers/breeders in the area.
