Funnel Traps

I hae seen "funnel traps" mentioned in this forum and was wondering if anyone can inform me on the subject. Thanks for the help in advance

If I remember correctly a funnel trap is a hole in the ground that is dug and a funnel placed on the top of it. So anything that slides into the funnel will fall into the hole. Never really heard of it being used for snakes, but I have used a method similar to this for capturing insects. It seems to me like a snake could easily escape these traps.
