As I prepare for one of my two talks at the International Herpetological Symposium in Phoenix, AZ later in July, one of those talks involves our captive husbandry successes with a seldom kept member of the atheris clan; the Sedge Viper (Atheris nitschei). I do know of at least one person (Al) who keeps this snake and am sure that there are a few more out there.
When I looked at the U.S. holdings of AZA zoos who keep A. nitschei, I was somewhat surprised to find out that NO zoos are currently working with this species. I was hoping to communicate with other facilities, institutions and even private keepers on matters involving captive husbandry and breeding of A. nitschei, and, hopefully, find additional info on their natural history that could provide additional info for my talk. I have seen some great info on the World of Atheris website but always looking for me.
Thanks in advance.
