I just wanted to take a moment to apologize for some of the harshly toned comments I made about Mr. Palmer regarding his book and some of the insinuations on how he conducts his practices (which were also not warranted as I haven't personally done business with him). He said a few things that irked me a bit and I took it out by giving him a public tongue lashing which was ill advised by me. In this day and age when our rights are being taken away state by state, county by county and city by city (now writing as a private hobbyist, not a curator) I feel it is very important that we form a united front (regardless of our personal feelings about one another...we are all different) because if we don't, things are only going to get worse. As a private hobbyist and a curator of a well respected reptile facility, I feel that I have unique opportunities to help protect our rights but taking shots at fellow venomous keepers is not going to strengthen our position. I reacted a bit hastily towards Sean and for that I do apologize as I'm sure he is as passionate about keeping venomous herps as I am; time to move on and come together and actively form a coalition that portrays itself in an educated and professional manner. Just remember, I am very passionate about our hobby and herpetology in general and sometimes get a little overzealous whenever there is an inkling of something negative going on that could hurt our futures in this hobby as it relates to keeping venomous reptiles.
And, I apologize for using this forum to bring this up but I felt in this case, it was warranted.
