snakito Jul 14, 2003 08:27 PM

ok my female ball is a lil over 3' and takin down 2 jumbo mice every 12-14 days and she is about 4" arround i could be wrong. if a adult male makes a circle with his thumb and middle finger about that size maybe bigger. just wondering if any1 could give a about guess on her weight. i think this is her third winter coming up. i have to save up and get a digi scale so i know if she will be ready to breed this year i hope she is. thanks in advance. this is a pic of her when i got her Jan. 28 2002

If she's only downing two jumbo mice per week I am guesing that she isn't ready to breed yet, just from the amount of food she eats.

Judging by the picture, and comparing your snake's size to the mouse(assuming it is an adult mouse), I'd guess she is in the 300 to 400gm range. Are you sure she is that old? I have about a dozen year old female balls and the smallest ones (poor eaters) are a little larger looking than yours. The largest ones are about 1200 grams and eating medium to large rats.--they are around 4 feet long and I couldn't possibly get my thumb/fingers around the middle of them. The poor eaters are about 400-500gms and the correct thickness to do this. Most breeders recommend around 1500 gram females to be safely bred--so you have quite a ways to go!

Good luck,
Rodney

I hope you don't keep her in that cardboard box full time, that would be sad on your part and not fair for the snake..

Like I said ''stupid observation''
