WC Alabama N. pine

rick d Jun 28, 2005 08:40 PM

A friend of mine who lives in Deatsville Al found his 4th pine in 6 years by his house. This one is a male about 3 foot long and very mellow, unlike most of the others. The only problem I can see is his one eye looks slightly swollen and he has mites. I know they used to use small pieces of dog flea collars over the cage but I'm not sure if that's still used. Any ideas?

There are many diff products on the market now that kill fleas. I wouldn't use the dog flea collar. Anyhow, myself I use Provent-a-mite spray. That's even advertised in Reptiles Magazine. I've yet to have a problem with mites...knock on wood... With my collection, I give a treatment a couple times a year as a preventative measure.

I've used a dog flea collars before with boas, pythons, and ratsnakes. I don't believe it would hurt. Let it air out for a few days before using it.
