I know I know... last time I was really split 50/50 between a green and a cy'. But, school kept me busy (Masters Degree), we often had friends or family visiting, and now, a new dog (she's now almost 4 months old). As much as I adore iguanas, nothing beats a fox terrier!!! lol
There's a lot to consider before I get another one.
Traveling is one of them.
Then, while I'll be out to work (currently job-hunting), etc. It is not as simple as it sounds. And my family is not too fond of the green-scaly kind... tho my brother is the more tollerant.
We all actually want to move some time in the near future to a house with a bigger backyard. If so, I will have ample space to have a great out-doors enclosure, where the animal will roam in beautiful Florida sunshine all day long. The winters worry me (it can get quite cool at night) but that's easily fixed.
So there's a better chance for me to get another one once I am able to accomodate it outdoors. In-doors is out of the question.
The most convenient in ratio is the desert iguana, but as cute as they are, they are not enough "iguana" for me. Ye know? Like a chihuahua is not enough "dog". Ctenosauras... no way! Very cool, but too feisty. Cycluras have the drawback of needing lots of room below. Iguanas can have it all nice and tall (yet still big) and not give me too many worries. Plus, the enclosure itself will look better with tall plants etc. Still, few can beat the looks of a blue cayman iguana!
For now I'll still go on "iguana-free". I came close to getting a gecko once (leopard, and was tempted to get a leachie also), but I just can't stand insects. I hate them. How's that commercial gecko food? Anywho...
But I do want to get involved here again. I missed it.
Plus, when I will get another one, my mind will be refreshed.
Well then, glad to see some of you remembered me!
Laterz,
