Pregnancy and Mating?

reptilicus81 Jun 28, 2005 11:17 PM

I have a new female who was quite plump...I assumed she was pregnant when I bought her, but after two weeks there has been no changes....I am thinking she might be an old girl who had lots of babies in the past who hasn't lost her baby weight I put her in with a male and he went nuts....he mated with her several times. Can I conclude that she was not in fact pregnant, or will a new male attempt to breed a new female if she is not in heat?

Thanks,
Amy

She was not pregnant or he wouldn't have bred her. When a male mouse mates he will mount the female numerous times but once he climax's a wax plug is left in the female and he won't mount again unless she doesn't get pregnant. Then he will breed her again the next time she comes in heat.

Good luck.
