I am about ready to purchase a couple of Barrs cages. ThE 24"X12"X12" units. I can't decide if I need the units with the extra vent on top. It seems like the "logo" vent on the back isn't very sufficient. Any Advice?

I have the 36 inch cage vented top and very happy with it. I think its like $5 extra for vented top .
Buy the vented top its a world of difference it gives you the option of incandescent spot light from above . Since they are white even room light seems to make the inside brighter.
They just seem brighter with vented top and again nice to have the option. A 40 watt in my 36 inch cage really heats up the cage they hold heat well. I dont use anything in summer as heat.
If you later decide you want it more humid, etc you can just put a piece of plastic over the vent but I wouldnt get any cage that doesnt have vented top.
The cage itself is well made tho I wish they had wider sizes at same length as another option.
You won't go wrong with a Barrs cage and Doug is a great guy to deal with. I have a lot of his cages and they are super. Depends on what you are keeping. I have a large collection of boas and pythons so top vents are not for me as I stack the cages and use belly heat with under cage heat pads. The Barrs cages hold heat and humidity very well and there is places desigend for the heat pads. The cages stack great and even have plastic stick on blocks in each corner to keep the cages from sliding. The logo vent provides fine ventilation and also keeps humidity in the cage-something my Visions don't. So if you are keeping reptiles that don't require humidity but overhead lighting and are not going o stack the cages, get the vented tops. However, if your animals require humidity and you are going to stack or may do so in the future, get the solid top ones. Bill
