Het Albino question....

Jbuggs500 Jun 29, 2005 12:53 AM

When breeding hets to produce albinos is it best to use darker animals or brighter animals? Which would make a higher contrast albino or is it just the draw of the hand what you produce? This has been runnin threw my head for a while and finaelly decided to ask it..

Attempting to determine the pattern of unhatched neonates by looking at their parents can be spotty at best. Unless you are working with a known pattern morph or you have past experience with this pairs clutches and the offspring they produce. Even then it is sometimes still a crap shoot.

Best bet...pair up the two hets. that you find the most visually appealing....if you have ugly babies (don't blame me) ...you'll know not to do that again.

Are you asking because you are trying to make a decision or out of simple curiousity?

I love Albinos. And yes I am trying to start a breeding group to produce my own albino ball. I was just curious because I know in the case of the "snowball" Axantic Albino it is very faded so was confused on what kind of color to look for to produce a "high contrast albino". I remember reading a post recently about someone saying they were determined to produce a orange albino ball. So was hopeing to get a hit from them and see how they are going about doing that. What would a pastel albino look like lol???? Well its late, enough mummblin.
