Oregon appears to be setting up a pemit system. They dont mention venomous snakes, and I am not sure if they are already illegal there, but I still feel that it is a good start.

To my knowledge (and I could very well be wrong), Oregon has not banned venomous reptiles. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction for regulating, and not banning them outright.

Venomous reptiles are not ilegal in Oregon. Oregon has a list of non controled and a list of prohibited exotic animales. They are more interested in protecting native animals and native habitat if an animal were to escape. These lists cover birds, mamales, fish, reptiles, ect. The list is hard to understand,as an example all U.S. Crotalids except the 2 Oregon native ones are on the prohibited list while there are 10 Crotalids found south of the U.S. border on the non controled list.
I have applied for a permit to keep U.S. Crotalids about 6 weeks ago and have not heard anything yet but I am hopefull. I have no idea if my request will be granted. I do feel that the permit is a good idea to hold people resposible for there animals.
