Ultrasonic Humidifier troubles

zenexotics Jun 29, 2005 07:20 AM

Hi all, my ultrasonic humidifer that I've had for about a year has stopped working properly...both of them within 1 week of each other. They both still turn on but there is no mist/fog being generated anymore. Does anyone have any tips on fixing this problem...I have already cleaned them with a soft cloth and have not used any kind of detergent...also have only used distilled water as the manual says. They are both the Sunbeam model without filter cartridges inside. Any input would be much appreciated from my chams!

try replacing the little disc that cretes the fog... the humidifiers generally come with an extra one, if not, then you can get it at a craft store in the section that has all the fountain/fogger stuff (or from your local HD/Lowes, etc).

good thought. The only time mine do that is if there is too much water in the reservoir. Since you have cleaned them this is probably not the problem, but try emptying the water that sits in the housing (not the tank) and then replace. Worth a try. I have had my Sunbeam for about 1 1/2 years and run it a LOT and have had no trouble (use the little ones, too)

Just had the same thing happen...and I ended up manipulating that plastic thing that is in the spout where the "steam comes" out. I also cleaned the wire sensor and it started working fine again.

Hope this helps.

I have already cleaned the sensor and pvc tubing that is connected to the inlet...I might have to get another one of those metal discs that creates the fog. It just sucks because both konked out on me within a week of each other! They have been going a full week now without it...I feel so bad. Got to make a trip today to home depot...thanks everybody, my chams appreciate it!
