Everybody Please Read This - I have a question for all

OK, I am just semi-finishing my web site and getting ready to publish it. I have been thinking about blood pythons, the future and how WE can help ourselves. I kind of think we should form a united front, something like the chondro coalition folks. That means we advertise for each other just as we advertise for ourselves. We also self-regulate. That means place nice or dont play with us. We want people to join our forums, we want people to see our pictures and we want people to buy our babies. Death to ball pythons! Ooops got carried away

Of course I am not talking about blood oaths or anything like that, but I am going to have a links page and one section will be just about blood pythons. I would like to have links to any reputable blood breeders both big (KLG, Tracy) and small (me). I will also have links to blood forums, etc etc. I dont care if you have 300 snakes or 3. I do care if you have a good reputation. If you have a reputation for dishonesty, as determined by me, I will not link anything to you.

Here is what I want from you. Send me an email if you have a web site and I'll post a link to it. If you have email that you want the public to see but dont have a web site, send that also. I'll simply list your name, what you have to show or sell and give your email address. You can also send me a picture of your favorite blood and that will be your logo on the links page. I'll be publishing my web page in the next week or so but I can add or delete at any time.

I do ask this and I am very serious when I say this. You must back your animals 100%. If a customer is unhappy make them happy. If you cant help them send them to one of us. If you get in to a disagreement one of us will help you mediate. If your animals are sick or have mites etc, dont advertise them until they are healthy. Lets get together and make ourselves famous. Better yet, let's get together and make bloods famous.

I'm all for positive marketing. I think one thing I would like to see honestly distinguished is animals that are being sold as "captive born" (actually imported as babies from Indo-even if they are captive hatched in Indo) vs captive bred and hatched here. This in no way is a comment on one vs the other, but it does recognize the efforts that breeders put forth breeding their animals and producing captive hatched babies.

I agree. That is something that I acknowledge in several places on my web page. I identify the difference in CB vs CBB but the only real distinctions that I am comfortable making on my web page are:

1) the personal attention that one is likely to receive from a domestic breeder vs a "farmer". Some of the imported animals are quite nice and seem perfectly healthy, but who does the average buyer talk to when something isnt "right"? I think this is extremely important and is our strongest selling point. Higher caliber morphs take a back seat to this one for now.

2)you are more likely to be able to see the parents and have some idea of how the animal will mature. Especially important with GTPs (my other obsession).

There is also the intangible sense of fellowship one gains from buying a "personal pleasure" item from somebody who shares your interest. Hard to put into words but it is something that I feel when I buy from one of the list members. Not sure how to put that on my web site though.

..Maybe a more original name would be in order? How about "the Blood Pool", or the "blood bank"? Or is it already taken? I don't know what I'm talking about. But I do know the word "coalition" is used in another python group.

It seems like a good idea... I think most of the well know people and people on the boards tend to stick together anyways. I'm not totally against importation tho... after all thats where we get the snakes to begin with, and where more morphs will hopefully come from. I think my problem is more with the people the sell them and don't label them properly or bother taking care of them to begin with (not a big fan of farmed babies tho). I wouldn't consider myself even in the same class as any of you, I'm small potatoes. But if I can be of assistance with something just let me know. It's great working with people that love this hobby as much as I do. Title idea... The Blood - Bath Party (or is that just dooming it lol)
