A few simple questions

j_elmore44 Jun 29, 2005 11:29 AM

My local petstore told me that you have to smash the heads of the meal worms before you feed them, or elde they will eat through the somache of the gecko and kill it. is that true or is it ok not to smash the heads. whenever i smash the heads they die and then my gecko wont eat them so i have to feed them with tweezers and vibrate them around so she thinks they are alive. So would it just be ok to fill up a petri dish with some meal worms after ive dusted them and then just put that in the tank over night?
Another question is that ive heard about putting a little container in the cage that the gecko can go into and put sphagum moss in it and keep it moist so they can shed easier. does this really help?

thank you

you dont have to pop the heads.....i feed all of my leos mealworms except for two cause thier picky and ive never had a problem. and i would use a moist hide, you can use a gladware container or somthing similar and cut a hole in the side or thetop which ever u prefer. it does help them shed...mine sleep in theirs all the time

one other real quick question

on your signature it says stuff like

EXAMPLE

0.3 Leos
1.5 Boas
3.1 humans

could you please explain what that means

that you very much

Lol that rumor is funny. Havn't you noticed when your gecko eats the mealworms he crushes it and kills it? Any how the 0.0.1 means 0(male).0(female).1(not sexed).

Oh -- LOL one side is female and the other is male =) Some people have three numbers instead of two so that they are able to represent unknown sexes.
