You don't think silicone or a hot glue gun or something like that would be able to affix a pvc type pipe w/flange to a plastic box to prevent bedding from falling into the hole you would drill to allow acess up and down?

How about some type of rivet or something if I can find a softer plastic tube?

Thanks,
Bob.

Oh it probably can, with silicon being the best choice. I just think that low-density, thin plastic used on those boxes make those boxes not the best choice for the application. You may certainly try it yourself and prove me wrong (or right.)

Bob,

One of the racks I built had a misting system of sorts. I drilled a large hole in the back of every box through which a pipe with a mist nozzle would enter when the box was slid to the back of the rack.

Not being comfortable with the security of the setup I decided to attach a screen covered pipe over each of the holes. I used hot glue and rivets and it all held up very well.

I have also attached drain connections to the bottom of plastic boxes using hot glue and rivets.
