....it smells VERY VERY bad! Last season, I had a clutch of 100% het albino eggs (4 good ones) look SO bad I was 99% convinced they were trashed. The eggs were mold, nasty, deflated too early and look basically terrible! Funny thing? Three of them hatched and the babies were PERFECT and nice sized. One was a defect runt and died shortly after the egg was cut. So, I am now of the opinion (as I always have been with tortoises) that Python eggs should be left to incubate until they smell bad. That is the final sign in my opinion. Of course, there are those that have had problems not removing eggs soon enough from a clutch and 'wet slugging' a whole clutch (killing all the good eggs too). That's another story all together and maybe someone will speak on that.
