is there some rule that says hatchling have to be such a pain

My little boy is such a nasty little cuss. he is so flighty and puffs, whips, blows, extends and bites. he does calm down after i get him and pet him for a bit to point where i don;t have him restrained in my hand! (progress) but i can;t set him down yet he will run away for ever heheh. and as sooon as he goes back in the tank back to mr nasty the second his feet hit the tree. it has been so long since i had a hatchling i forgot what a " joy" they can be. oh i long for the days of my big 6 foot monster who was a lap dog.

If your looking for a lap dog maybe a dog would be a better choice as a pet??

Why you may think that I am some person who just saw a cute little iguana in a pet store and thought I would buy one you could be no further from being correct. I have kept iguanas since 1987 when I got my first who by the way just recently died a few years back in 1998 at 11 years old. He was about 5.5 feet snout to tail. He passed due to liver problems. I used to run a rescue in mobile al. in 1993-1996 while I attended the University of South Alabama. I am well aware of the behavioral trends of green iguanas as I have rescued iguanas that have left some serious scars on my arms. I was only making comments to the fact that I missed my big tame boy.
If there where less smart ass people like you on this board and more helpful people then maybe it could make a greater contribution and help more people. With an attitude like yours maybe YOU should consider another pet. Or keep you unproductive remarks to yourself.
BTW I raised a female that died at of some form of cancer in her spleen who was quite possibly the most aggressive iguana I have ever seen. The kind that would come down from her perch in her 10 foot tall cage to bite and whip you, she was a rescue.
So as you can tell I am quite aware that sometimes these guys are not lap dogs.

not all iggys are gonna turn out like ur "lap dog".... my lil 1 is a sweet pea its about 9 inches and loves to be held it will crawle right onto my hand when i open its tank... hes favorite sleeping spot is on my shoulder under my hair hes so cute .... but like i was saying just normal constant gentale handeling and interaction within his tank should calm him down....
