Unusual regurgitation, info please!

sdi Jun 29, 2005 11:06 PM

I have a four year old salmon boa that regurgitated today. He has never had health problems. As a matter of fact he has fathered two litters and has always been quite active. Temps, rat size, and humidity are all correct. No new imports or cb boas have entered my collection. The rat was fully thawed and brought to a body temp consistent with all the other rats I fed my boas. He held the rat for three full days before regurgitation. If anything I am conservative in my feeding practices and do not power feed.

At this point I will continue to monitor him and attempt to feed him again after he has rehydrated himself and rested for a week or so. Hopefully it is just a fluke. However when I found him he was laying partially on his side an I could tell something just wasn't right. Maybe he was just exhausted from the gurge? I felt it was appropriate to use the forum as a resource to see what others have experienced. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

There was a post not to long ago from Drimes about his Boa regurgitating and then passing. His had cancer or growths I believe. Not to get you scared or anything, hopefully this regurge is just a fluke.

I don't have any experience with regurgitation myself and I know his conditions are probably fine but that's the first thing that comes to mind, anything different as far as temps., etc?

Everything is consistant. My enclosures are controlled by thermostats and the temps are still good. The first thing I checked was to see if the heat was off.

Hey,

With one of my Kenyans (I know different) she will puke if the humidity is to high.

If anything try raising temps 3-7 degrees F. Try smaller meal. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Where did the rat come from? I hope all works out for you. Andy

I do not want to say the name of the breeder on the forum. They are a reputable company that myself and others use consistantly with no problems.
