Tilley finally settled down........Question for Breeders, Please-Thank you....

rdperry5 Jun 30, 2005 09:54 AM

Tilley is gravid and has been restless for a couple of weeks. Last night she finally settled down in her nesting box (under the moss). It has been about 12 hours now when I'm posting this message. No eggs yet........

In your experiences, about how long after they settle down do they start laying?
I know that this may vary widely with individuals.

Thanks in advance

As you say, tis a bit difficult to guess because they do seem to all have different habits. One of mine sits in her laying box for weeks before she lays, others only settle three or four days before laying.

Good luck!

UPDATE: WE HAVE EGGS

(dances a jig on the coffee table)

Tilley has at least 7 eggs so far. They are nice and "purty" white. I got a fuzzy pic. I'll get a better one later. I don't want to disturb her. More later...........
