feeding ball pythons

ok i know you should feed bp prekilled rodents... if you buy a live one...is drowning it an ok way, or will there be to much water in it for the snake? what is another easy way to kill it..

ahh ill just slit its throat....lol

Drowning is not ok...it's not humane for the rodent. A better way is called "cervical dislocation." (Google this and you'll find a bunch of articles instructing researchers on the process.) Basically, you take a ruler and pin the rodent down behind its head. Then you quickly yank its tail away and upwards which dislocates its spine. The animal dies instantly and supposedly with minimal pain.

Drowning is not ok - not humane to the rodent, but also will wash the smell off and the snake might not take it. If you want to prekill you can do a cervical snap on mice and small rats but doesn't work well on larger rats. You might want to look into setting up a CO2 tank to do some p/k or look into ordering f/t. There are those that say it's ok to bash their sculls but I don't find that any more humane than drowning.
