HELP!!!!...Please!

Noir Jun 30, 2005 10:34 AM

This is the first snake I've ordered through the internet. I have a few questions for this great board. First is should I resisit handling the snake until a few days of it being in the cage, or can I play with it right away. How long should I wait before I feed him. Also could you make any suggestions as to help the snakes transition to a glass cage. Thanks for ALL the help. And thanks Barry!

First contact the person you got it from...but in general, at least a day, it should be left to relax, and then next day you can feed a small meal...provided it was shipped with an empty stomach. Andy

This is what works for me.....

When I get new snake I look it over carefully then take pictures/weigh/measure as soon as I get it out of the box. Then it goes straight into it's new enclosure. I wait four days before I try to feed. If it feeds right away I wait 1-2 days before handling.

My snakes are mainly in racks and cages, but for the ones that are in tanks I make sure they have plenty of places to hide. I also cover 1-3 sides of the tank. I don't know if it helps the snake, but it looks "safer" to me.
