Tail twitch?

the2ndrunner Jun 30, 2005 10:53 AM

Ok, my suri will twitch her tail once in a while. She will move it back and forth really quick. I have not observed this in my other boas. Is this a defensive action? Its usaully only when I open her cage. I'm thinking maybe she thinks it will distract me away from her head.

I would say either she is agitated or possibly doing the tail lure. I noticed it more with the BCc I used to have then the BCi but sometimes they do it as well. Like a slow waving back and forth or twiching back and forth.
Or maybe there is something on the tail that is iritating her?
(stuck shed? mites? anything on her tail?)

Her tail is fine. I think she is just irritated with being bothered. She's the most fussy of the bunch.

I would definitely say it is a caudal luring action. Several of my adults do it. If you sneak up on the cage and tap the side, they will immediately begin waving their tail if they are hungry.
