I am not a breeder and do not pretend to have the subjective experience of a breeder, but I can offer you some basic websites that offer morph pictorials and condensed genetics descriptions. I have always been a biology freak so I find this genetics stuff fascinating. For some people its just horribly confusing. At very least, these sites will give definitions of important terms: heterozygous, recessive, dominant, co-dominant, genotype, phenotype, etc.
The opinions and definitions held throughout these websites are still debatable (isn't everything!)and some of the stuff is a little out of date, but for the most part these sites can give you a beginning start on the genetics, line-bred traits, and morphology behind all these beautiful colorations.
Maybe one of the advanced breeders on this site can recommend some good books? The best books that I can think of are the animal genetics texts I had to read in college! I think experience and valid information sources are key.
VERY BASICS:
Dream Geckos has a pictorial which might be a good place to start looking at the morphs:

I like Fred's site layout:

More Photos...just for fun. Steve also has his own separate genetics page on his site:

Mat Koss' Genetics...not sure about this but just for the charts:
