Picked this guy up from Rob Penny of spiderballs.net He is doing great. He weighs in at 780 grams. I hope to get a few clutches from him this coming season.Yb's are a must have snake if you plan to produce some killer crosses.

I would have to agree, it doesn't look like a YB to me. I think you got hosed, but hopefully for your sake you didn't. If it was me and that doesn't prove out then someone would be doing some explaining.

well for lack of a better word, suck.

Even seasoned veterans can't tell the difference. No wonder so many people get ripped on these things...why oh why?

No way! Yellow Bellies are cool-a-rooni!

But I agree about the confusion. Man! Just when I thought I had a handle on what a real Yellow Belly looks like...

Now I'm all kinds of crazy confused!

The baby in the pic certainly looks right (down right awesome in fact), but I have to tell you that unless I got the snake pictured at the top of this post "directly" from Amir (who is a reputable guy who certainly knows what a yb is and who has no need and would never rip anybody off for a few $'s because HIS reputation is worth MANY time that) you can bet the house that I wouldn't have put my money down to buy him based on what I see in the picture.
I don't profess to be an expert, but I am one who doesn't think YB's (at least the VAST majority of YB's) are that difficult to distingush. If over the next few years some of these "normal" looking snakes prove out to be true YB's I will gladly eat my words and I won't need to go to Vegas to gamble anymore!!

My advice for everyone -
IF IT IS NOT AN EASILY IDENTIFIABLE YELLOWBELLY from someone who produced Ivories. Including myself. DO NOT BUY IT.
DO NOT BUY ADULT YELLOWBELLIES FROM ANYONE. THEY HAVE NO GOOD REASON TO SELL IT.

I also said that "I hope it is (a YB) for your sake".

Nice babies Rob. 2ND & 3RD pictures are nice examples of YBs.

GOD Bless
