Boaphile Rack V.S. Vision Rack

sunshineboas Jun 30, 2005 01:58 PM

I breed Ball Pythons and Boas and the cages I am using now are:
Six of the largest vision's I have two freedom breeder racks the four footers and Two wodden racks that are housing my babies and yearlings. I am looking for something new because I have outgrown all the cage space I have. The two racks I am looking at are The new Vision ball python rack and the Boaphile ball rack. The vision comes with the IRIS tubs which are a little bigger then the sterilite tubs that the boaphile rack has. I was wondering if anyone out there has either of these racks or maybe both. I want the goods and bads of both. Also if I go with the vision I am planning on using heat tape instead of the cable...
Thanks in advance...
Josh

Thanks, Do your snakes ever have shed problems in the vision?

I don't own either rack but I'd like to give you my input if I may. I REALLY like the look, style, and affordability of the vision CB-70 racks and I intend to get a few of them this fall, but their speedy returns of my e-mails really won my future business. If you are on a budget though (like most of us) you may also want to give Animal Plastics a look. I have ordered a couple racks from them and I already own 4 of their 6ft cages. If there are specific features you need, they can accomidate you. They can make racks for any size box you need and have many features available. I am having them make a custom rack for the STERLITE under bed ULTRA box (43" long x 6.5'high x 22" wide approx) that is 12 boxes high, has belly heat in the back 1/4 of the rack. I use these boxes for dwarf retics and yearling mainland retics. I was absolutly floored when I was told the price, it was several houndred dollars less than I expected.

Wow, thats a bit long winded, to sum it up, at least look over their products, and you will not find nicer people to handle business with over the phone.

I have not used the Boaphile Racks so I can't say anything
positive or negative on them but I have a couple of Vision racks and they are excellent as is their customer service.

Thanks to all of you...
I was already leaning toward the visions and now that is what I am going for... I love the visions I already have and they were great to deal with...

I have a Vision Rack with heat cable and love it...will definately get a couple more. It holds humidity well which is evident in the perfect sheds.

I don't own a vision rack so I can't give you a comparison. However, I do own a Boaphile ballroom rack which I am very pleased with. They retain the heat within the tubs very well. My snakes have been feeding better than ever since I moved them into the rack. As for shedding, I only worry about humidity come shed time. Once the eye color change I mist the snake and the sides of the tub twice a day until they shed. Condensation quickly forms and every shed is complete and in one piece. The customer service from boaphile was also excellent. When my rack arrived without one of the heat tapes working correctly, they gave me the option of returning it or helping me fix the problem. They overnighted the new crimped tape to me and to my suprise they also refunded part of the cost of the rack for my inconvenience. They were happy to walk me through the process of fixing it. I wouldn't hesitate buying another rack from them and plan to when I'm ready to expand my collection.

I'm going to place an order with Jeff real soon for quite a few racks, including 3 Ball Rooms. Boaphiles have worked fine for me up until now, and I think the RhinoRaxxs will work even better!

Josh,
I sold 2 Freedom Breeder and 2 Roylance Racks and replaced them with 6 Vision Racks. I was able to fit 5 Vision Racks in the space it took for just 2 Freedom Breeders and I gained 5 tub spaces. I was having shedding problems with the other racks but since I started using the Visions those problems are gone!!! I couldn't beleive the difference they made. I would suggest the heat cable over the heat pads. If you use the heat pads you'll have 10 plugs per rack as opposed to 2 plugs using the heat cable. I was scepticle of the heat cable but it has proved efficient. Vision is coming out with 2 new sizes for hatchlings and yearlings in a few months. I will sell my last Freedom Breeder and replace it with these new size racks. I couldn't be happier. Heres a pic of the racks, good luck. Ron

I have a couple of the new Vision racks, although mine were built around the Iris CB-80 box rather than the CB-70. The guy from Vision was working on a prototype for the CB-80 box at the same time I happened to drop him an e-mail asking if he could build me one.

He was nice enough to sell me the prototype which I liked enough that I ordered a second.

Simply an outstanding product. I use primarily room heat but I am still VERY impressed with the heat cable. I had a brief power outage and the new Tstat for my herp room reset to it's default temps of 55* while I was out of town. When I got back the snakes in my Vision rack were active and doing great. All of my snakes in other racks were quite chilled and barely moving.
