My niehborhood has a small lake with sliders, watersnakes, and more aquatic wildlife. there is a small fence by the bourder of a forest only about 10 feet long. about 2 years ago when i was walking down the sidewalk i saw a box turtle sleeping by the fence. today i think i saw the same box turtle in the same spot. do u think it could have been him or would he be gone?

It probably is the same one. They have home territories. When I was a kid we had a box turtle that lived in our back yard. I would stumble upon it every now and then.

As golfdiva stated box turtles do stay in the same area each year, or "home range".

There is much debate as to the size of their home range. Stress, habitat, pedators are but a few of the many factors that determine a boxie's home range.

One habit that most boxies exhibit is following fences along their daily paths; so it's a very strong chance that this is the same boxie you seen before.
