That's a good looking Green, lots of orange. They do make habits, like that. My big male used to sleep in my shirt pocket, when he was a baby. Now, he sticks his head in, and can't figure out why the rest of him won't fit. He's torn off a couple of shirt pockets. It gets a laugh, hard on the wardrobe, though. Nice pix, I enjoy them.

haha, yeah, my male sleeps in my bookbag still. It was his carrying case that I'd use instead of a pillow case for a little more convenience when traveling. He still looks around for it when I have him out. I saw your picture with all your snakes together, the boa, conda, and ball. That's cool that they all get along. My female conda used to live with a 7' high orange phase, het for hypomelanistic brazilian rainbow boa. while my male lived with my green tree python. The neat part is they both aquired eachothers habbits. My BRB and AK would sleep curled up in a ball together, or sleep in the water dish, while my male conda would sleepl high in the tree next to his girlfriend Green Tree Python... He thought he WAS one... that'll be cute when he's bigger. LOL. I'm gonna wake up one day to a THUD and be like "yup, gravity works." Anyhoo, Here's a question to ALL you conda or snake owners in general... How did you guys get started? My mom was alergic to dogs and cats, so dad always brought us home odd pets as kids. Most of the time, it was snakes because we could just go outside in our yard in upsate NY and catch them. Now, they're a huge hobby. I also have been to MANY different schools from grades K - 12 teaching about these animals from keeping them as pets, to the genetic make up of the new "hybrids" to the structure of the vertabra, digestive system, and other biological fact on them. I get a LOT of questions on the whole Personality thing. People have their own opinions on what makes a snake's personality differ. That, and with the little kids "does it bite?" lol. i get that a lot. Well, that was my question to you guys (or Ya'll now that I live in Florida) Hope to get some good replys. As for my stunning BRB for those of you who have never seen one this color. here she is. Thanks for reading!!!
Light and Love,
James

Your BRB pic almost burned a hole in my monitor. That is a beautiful snake. I've read, in the taxonomy, that Epicrates is the most closely allied genus to Eunectes.
In answer to your question, I got started in Boas in 1963 while working with exotic pets in retail. Anacondas got me in 1998 while working in another exotic pet store. We got a shipment of baby Yellows from New England Reptile Dist., and I was impressed by their calm behavior. We received them still dragging their yolk sacs. By the time they were ready to take food, they were willing to just accept frozen/thawed feeders from the hand and swallow them. They didn't bother to strike, or constrict. Now, as adults, they still behave the same. I ended up with several more of them, when their owners tired of them. Those who had been fed live prey easily converted back to pre-killed. They, too feed gently. A couple of them were owned by people who wanted to have a fierce snake to impress people. They just aren't.
I too, do docent work, at the local Cal State University campus. I show them as "Water Boas". People, mostly young kids, handle them, and enjoy learning about them. At the end of the session, I tell them they've been handling Anacondas. Some refuse to believe it. Many refuse to believe that they're not venomous. Even though they've handled them, they become afraid when they learn what they are. I tell them that if they think education is expensive, they will pay much more for ignorance.
When they ask about biting, I show them my dog-bite scars for a a little perspective.

haha. nice porn dude. =) Yeah, people usually freak when they hear the word. I use the phrase "water boas" as well. I almost wanted to breed out the rainbow with my male green... but then I thougth about messing up the genetic line..... so I sold her wholesale for 2,800 $ I probably should not of done that seeing everyone says "whoa, i've never SEEEN one like that before" I was desparate for money at the time. now that has passed. I'm now a sales executive for bellsouth here in florida so I can feed my addiction to these amazing animals. Thanks for the info! Everyone keep in touch for more pictures of Akasha.
