There's always a market for everything (especially females in this biz)...Just got to wait and target it to move the product (in this case Axanthic Ball Pythons)...Once some cool new combo pops out with them, you won't see any for sale or they'll be sold...Just a sleeper trait...Not the hottest on its own, but a must have for combo making...Go with Red Axanthics though, they are the new wave, the new Axanthic!! LOL...

Too much work. That is my opinion. Two simple recessive is the one in sixteen to produce the "new" morph and it takes years. People want quick return on their investment. The only morph made so far is the snow. In fact, I don't recall any new morph from crosses from two different simple recessive. Again, one in sixteen takes time. I do believe that when or if an axanthic x ????? new morph is produced and it looks great then more folks will want the axanthic in their collection.

A couple of years ago it looked like the ghost/hypo market was dead. Males and females could be purchased for less than a thousand dollars. You didn't see any at the shows and adult males could be purchased for $700-$800. Look at the price of them now! Look at the value of having that morph in your collection.
The same is true of the axanthic. They are still being produced but are mostly being held back. The newest morph using the axanthic gene is the silver pastel / axanthic pastel. We still have not seen a true ghost, axanthic and hypo(ghost). A true ghost, like the snow, is a 1 in 16 chance. Since balls do not have huge clutches, it takes longer to produce these double recessive gene morphs. When these are produced in larger numbers and brought to market, they should hold their value better than the co-dominant morphs. The co-dominant morphs lose value much faster but they offer instant gratification and that is what a lot of the new generation of breeders are looking for. While females are always going to be in demand, look at what has happened with pastel males. Males are not selling fast and they are down as low as $700 shipped in the classifieds. That's the asking price and I think we may see some as low as $500 this year. That will be the posted price, not the wholesale price and the price of deals behind closed doors.
Back to the axanthic, there's lots of opportunity to make something new with this gene and as soon as some of the big boys share some pics, the demand and price will go up and availability will go down. Now is a good time to add this morph to your back shelf.

and I'm just not going to go there again.......

It's still kinda early.....hatchlings are just hatching and not ready to be advertised yet.....in due time, they will be.

Dom...the "new" Axanthic? The Red Axanthic is THE Axanthic...hands down, no questions asked. Best of luck with your Het Red.

Rick...memory is fading. The Caramel Albino Hypo and Albino Hypo are both double simple recessive designers....both produced by NERD.

What combos have been done with the red axanthic?
Will it produce a snow? Seems like codominant trait should have produced something.

Perhaps I missed them. Can you point me to the photos?

I have three eggs in the incubator right now, from a SK Het Axanthic x Het Axanthic. I have my fingers crossed for at least one Axanthic, preferably a female
