Sulfer water monitors

arboreals Jul 14, 2003 10:36 PM

Where are they all? Is anyone working with these amazing creatures? Is Dna sexing in babies-juvies accurate? For a larger more calm monitor are they a good choice, just curious what else is out there. Thanks in advance,
John

Good variety of water monitors and many more monitors to choose from.
They are also very helpful with any general questions you may have in regards to monitors. Overall, very good people.

If you want to see and know alot about sulphur water monitor lizards (Varanus salvator sp.), go to www.cybersalvator.com; the webmaster knows more about this ssp. than anyone I know, and of V. salvator complex in North America as well...good pics, a nice forum, etc...

There are aprox 35 living individual sulfurs in USA. No one i know of has done DNA projects with them.
sulfurs (or xanthics) are no different from typical asian waters other than color pattern. raising them (i have 4) i notice they do not grow as large or as fast as some more common salvators (sumatrans, javans, malaysians). i own 2.2, and have 1 pair housed together. my oldest is a female at 10 years, and my youngest is a 1 year old. the nicest trait about them is the pattern...the darker colors fade to grey tones and the lighter yellow and wheat colors dominate. any more info, just post to my site or email me there. -john a
