Pac Man Mites?

Freakytah Jul 01, 2005 02:54 AM

Hey,
I've had a pacman for about a year now and he's just recently came out of his hibernation period. He hasn't lost any weight and his appetite is ravenous but i'm seeing little white bugs crawling on and around him. I was wondering if these are mites and if they are harmful to him. Also, what stuff should i use to get rid of them. Thanks for your help.

What you most likely are seeing are often referred to as springtales and are common in aquatic and semi-aquatic vivariums. They are not harmfull to your frog.

If your frog shows any symptoms including inappetence, rash, open sores, lethargy, ect. then it is time to consider that something may be wrong and a vet visit is warranted.

i would change the substrate just in case. i wouldn't want to wait until something goes wrong and then have to take it to the vet.
