why do people refer to hatchlings they are trying to sell as pastel siblings

XtremeXteriors Jul 01, 2005 08:24 AM

and alot of times they are usually charging more for them, is there something special about these "siblings" that earned them the honor of being better and more expensive than a regular cb ball be it male or female because it came out of a pastel clutch

Pastel siblings are typically nicer looking then the common normal. And its a good marketing ploy to Plus you'll know they are true cb babies and not FH babies.

I have not noticed a difference.

How is that so? It would be real easy for someone to sell FH as pastel siblings. How would the buyer know?

Marketing ploy? You bet!

Sometimes they do get a little bit of the 'JUNGLE' look to them, but not always. Depends on the pastel and the normal.

I suppose you have seen a ton of Pastel siblings to make this claim.
Most, but not all Pastel Siblings do appear nicer color than other CH or CH babies.

GOD Bless

I see the Pastel sib babies that I've hatched out look a little more red/orange. Pretty cool actually. I don't sell them for anything more, but on average, all mine have indeed been nicer!

Just an observation without a flame. Imagine that.

Three clutches of pastels hatcing out this week:

One is 5 out of 6 pastels
One is 7 out of 9
One is 4 out of 7

Finally some of Ralph's luck is rubbing off on me!

This is a Pastel sibling from one of the first Pastel clutches
in the US. He is still very yellow. We were never quite sure if he was really an "ugly" Pastel or just a bright normal.

toshamc Jul 01, 2005 10:44 AM

Pastel Siblings are just normals - I don't think I've seen a big difference in price - sometimes they turn out looking real nice more yellow looking - be nicer to use in a pastel project.

Here's Fluffy my pastel sibbling:

ive read the other posts agreeing that pastel siblings are nicer then "normal" normals............ive only hatched a few clutches of pastels and by no means think i can answer whether they are or arent nicer but my thought was that when breeding your pastel males to your nicer females then couldnt the nicer babies be from just that fact.........who really breeds normal to normal to really see the differance ........a lot of the pastels we see offered are from handpicked "nicer" females...........one way to compare would be what do the normals look like in a clutch where there were no stunning pastels ..........could "blah" normals be born amongst "blah" pastels and nice normals be born amongst nice pastels............ask around to see the normals that were born along side both gorgeous pastels and blah pastels and see .................all my best Jerry Lowry SJS reptiles
