I think my worst fears came true. When i was looking the other day i saw a couple of bird feathers on the ground that were wet and when i went inside i was giving him a shower with the hose. so i put 2 and 2 together and i think he became a meal for one of the crows or falcons that live near me.

oh no But wet feathers could mean many things. Have you tried the nighttime search? Don't give up yet - we're rooting for you!!!

yeah ive searched night time twice and all time during the day. i setup soem traps for him but so far no luck. i put about 10 crickets in clear plastic containers in the areas i thought he might be in and made a sort of trail to 1 cup to hope he stays over there wanting more. im still looking tho. But since hes gone im just going to get a panther cham that i was planning on for a while.

Hi,

When my veiled escaped, I immediatly phoned the vet and inquired about a bird or a cat getting a hold of him. The vet said that a chameleon would be an unlikly food source for both cats and birds, becuase they are used to feeding on indigenous species of reptiles and amphibians. Still, there is the possibility, but I would find it unlikely...I mean, I didnt find my chameleon until about 3 days later...still, best of luck!

i also think a neighborhood kid might have caught it and be keeping it like kids normally do if the can catch a lizard in the backyard. my poor little rocket in a shoebox. cry

have you put out a chameleon alert in the neighborhood?? Put out a reward. Doesn;t have to be big, but big enough where a 12 year old might bite

Previous post about indigenous species is true - to a point. Depends where you live. If you live in So. CA or FL a large bird might be attracted. If you live up north it is probably unlikely that a hawk or crow would take it. Just my opinion from doing backyard habitats for wildlife. I think a bird would be somewhat suspicious of its shpe, size and colors (or lack thereof). No nocturnal feeders would get him b/c he is still.

keep looking...

yeah i live in So Cal. and where i live there a small haks and other birds of prey. and in my neighborhood there are plenty of cats. so far no luck still. i guess ill go make some flyers

If possible, Put a pic up of your chameleon, and give some detail about him. If you were to mention "chameleon" to a large percent of the general public, they would think of the American chameleon "Anole" When my guy was lost, I even put the word "reward" in BOLD letters, so it would attract attention, and it did! As always, good luck!
